Wow...I'm a blogger!

At the insistence of my good friend, I have decided to start a blog. It will consist of my random thoughts and observations, mostly about health and fitness. While I do make my living in this industry, I do not claim to know EVERYTHING about health and fitness. I do however, like to share my experiences and what I have learned through my research.

One of the things that I have learned is that excessive alcohol will pile on the pounds. Because of the high sugar content, wine is a serious Of course; the best way to avoid extra pounds is not to consume alcohol at all. However, if you MUST have an uh, adult beverage during the holiday season, here are some that I have tried and some that have been recommended to me:

Mike's Lite Hard Lemonade: It comes in the regular "lemonade" and "cranberry lemonade" flavors. I have not detected a major difference in taste, and it only has 119 calories per bottle. Pretty good considering that similar beverages have about 220 calories depending on the flavor. That's only 20 calories less than a bag of M&Ms. http://www.mikeshard.com/lite-hard.php

Voli Vodka: Typically, liquor consumed straight has fewer calories than mixed drinks and frozen cocktails. Depending on the brand and flavor, 1 oz. (a shot) of vodka has about 100 calories. However Voli Spirits, LLC has come through with a line of low calorie vodkas that contain 53 calories or less per oz. Cocktails, anyone? http://www.volispirits.com/#Home

Again, I am not advocating the consumption of alcoholic beverages. However it is the holiday season and most people will have a beverage or two. If you must partake, please do so responsibly and in moderation.

Happy holidays,

Rashard
